Public spaces (stations, shopping malls)

Contemporary murals may be printed on any surface such as stone, metal, glass or wood. For rendered walls WallPrint gives the best result. PlatePrint is used for art work on aluminium dibond panels, glued to the wall with a special adhesive. This technique is applied when walls are badly damaged, giving them a totally new look. After mounting the panels to the wall, an anti-grafitti coating is applied for extra protection.

An excellent example of PlatePrint by ‘Modern Murals’ can be found near the entrance of the central station in The Hague, The Netherlands. The city is home to the Dutch parliament, state departments, embassies and international companies. A dynamic city, with a great beach. Artist Dominic Brown used these main themes on two very large murals, and on pillars in front of the station. The council of The Hague ordered this mural art, transforming the station entrance from a grey zone into an area with a clear identity. Elsewhere in the city, historical figures feature on contemporary murals: esthetically pleasing but also educating the public about its own past.

Murals add a dynamic feel and -with special lighting- increase the safety of a location, but also protect walls and concrete against wear and graffiti. The company, ‘Modern Murals’, works with councils and developers.
