I painted this peaceful landscape wanting to remind you of those days when the sky is calm and peaceful, when you can carelessly be alone with nature, as if in childhood. Because now not all of our days can be called peaceful

This is not a usual poppies painting because I drew the meadow with a red poppy flowers from a photo of the city Mariupol. Mariupol was almost completely destroyed due to the actions of Russian troops in the East of Ukraine.

The painting was created on May 8, when Ukrainian celebrate the day of remembrance for the victims of WWII.

Both in America and Ukraine, poppy flower was chosen as the symbol of this day because it resembles a bullet hole. Nobody wants history to repeat itself. But it's already happened

Poppies make any field bright and joyful. And one should easily accept its beauty, but remember that human freedom appears in the struggle.
