About the artist

Magosja Turkawski is a Dutch artist who graduated from Amsterdam’s Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 1990.

Her paintings are inspired by American artist Helen Frankenthaler’s “Soak-Stain Technique”, using thinned-down paint to create abstract paintings on raw canvas.

In her paintings, Magosja expresses her memories, feelings and moods.

Guided by intuition, she works in a spontaneous way with simplified compositions and areas of color.

Her art holds a quiet, restrained design language, a certain stillness and a serene appearance.

With her paintings she creates moments of stillness for people to experience, the peaceful and quiet moments that are becoming increasingly rare in our busy society.

Moments of reflection as if time stood still.
