About Kojo M Odame/Kojart Collection

I was born in the UK in the late 60s to Ghanaian parents who had just finished their studying in London, We moved to Ghana in the mid 70s, as my parents wanted us to learn about Ghana and the rich culture, so I spent my early childhood and schooling in Accra and was introduced to African Art by my  father who was a collector. I returned to the UK in 1987 to further my education and every Christmas traveled to Ghana to visit my parents. It was on one of these trips in 1999 that I started collecting African Art and have amassed quite a collection. I had the privilege of meeting a Master carver from the Volta region of Ghana, Master Henry, as he is called by everyone was born in the 1950s in Alavanyo a town in the Volta region of Ghana. His father was a carver for the royal family and started learning the family craft from his dad when he was 10 yrs old, The carving skills and technique he uses have been handed down from generation to generation. utilizing traditional carving tools and finished by hand. The Kojart Collection are some of the works that I commissioned from this master carver with designs provided by me and I will  let his work speak for itself so the world can appreciate and enjoy these great works of Art.I moved to Ghana a few years a ago..
