From October 4, 2024, to March 2, 2025, STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam will host the traveling exhibition Seth se la joue – Art Playground for All Ages by internationally renowned French street artist SETH (real name Julien Malland), also known as the Globepainter (@seth_globepainter). In this interactive exhibition, Seth explores the many aspects and possibilities of play around the world. With dreamlike installations, paintings, murals, and sculptures, the artist aims to spark creativity and curiosity in visitors of all ages, with a special focus on younger audiences. Seth se la joue premiered at Le Musée en Herbe in Paris, which co-developed the concept with the artist. The exhibition in Amsterdam is made possible through a partnership with ABN AMRO, the main social partner of STRAAT.

“I hope this exhibition will be a journey to our inner child, a world full of wonder where anything is possible.” – Seth

An Interactive Journey of Discovery

Seth se la joue takes visitors on an interactive journey through the artist's travels to all corners of the globe and his encounters with children in Madagascar, Indonesia, Haiti, Ukraine, and China. The journey also brings visitors to the streets of Paris, Seth's hometown, where he has created dozens of murals—each depicting children at play. Panels are arranged to mimic the facades of a street, creating an immersive urban environment. As the visit progresses, wordplay comes to life, and visitors' portraits magically merge with Seth's artwork.

Appealing to All Ages

Seth is known for his large-scale creative art projects that he conducts with young people from underprivileged communities worldwide. This spirit of collaboration and education is at the heart of Seth se la joue. The exhibition offers various activities that reflect this ethos, including a scavenger hunt, games, and creative assignments, all designed to engage and inspire a young audience and school groups. By creating a creative environment that reflects Seth’s global reach, we aim to provide a meaningful and enriching experience for visitors from all walks of life.
