The expressive power of the classically trained sculptor Yvan Veninga lies in the inspiration of his subjects and the mastery of form and material.

During the creation process, Veninga works passionately on the inspiration of his human or animal portraits. It is a struggle with an elusive entity that, at some point during the carving or modeling, precipitates into the material and makes the invisible visible.
Just as we sense the presence of a person we do not see, the being in the sculpture must also be felt.
When the heart of the model finally shines through the sculptural skin, the sculptor comes to rest.
The piece has only succeeded if it gives the impression of being alive, as if it could break free from its stillness at any moment; shifted his gaze or could descend into the trot from the moment of hover.

Veninga produces both sculptures that are carved from stone or wood and sculptures that are built up in clay, wax or plaster and cast in bronze. He works carefully on the composition, the anatomy of the model and the finishing of the sculpture.
