Sławomir Ratajski is one of the representatives of Neo-expressionism - reaction against conceptual art and minimal art of the 1970s. Neo-expressionists returned to portraying recognizable objects, such as the human body (although sometimes in an abstract manner), in a rough and violently emotional way, often using vivid colors.
The artistic activity of Sławomir Ratajski began at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. Art was then dominated by conceptual tendencies and painting known as the New Expression trend. The art of the 1980s was sometimes related to the political mood. His paintings from that period were painted using a combination of several basic colors emphasized by the textured structure and expressive movement of the brush.
