My name is Silvia van Mazijk. I am a contemporary, self-taught artist based in the Netherlands who creates abstract paintings.

My feelings and thought processes are expressed in my work by combining soft color transitions with textures, geometric shapes, and contrasts. By working with many transparent layers, I try to create the effect that light shines behind the work, resulting in a dream world.

By looking at the world with an open mind, I can draw inspiration from everything I see. It can be something small like a piece of wood. Or something large like a sunset, nature, or the universe. By experimenting with colors, shapes, textures, and contrasts, I try to convey that dream world I see in my work.
