About the artist

Salomeya Bauer is a film director and artist.

Through video documentation and research, Salome's primary focus is on comprehending borderline states of mind and mental crisis. In painting, her characters raise gender issues. She is interested in the opposition of humans and society in the context of separatism, integration, and the search for self-identification.

"I grew up in North Caucasus, in a city, which held a «hot spot» status throughout my whole childhood. Several years ago, I came back to my historical homeland, Georgia, and fully devoted myself to painting. The contrast of mentalities, religions, and social structures I lived in, made a big influence on me as a painter.

My art can be perceived as one «addressing actual problems», but at the same time, it is important for me to capture the timeless contradictions of human nature, as a fragile, helpless, but disastrous being at the same time. "
