About Richard Post
Welcome, my name is Richard Post, born in IJmuiden and raised with a pencil and a sketchbook. When I turned 13, I traded sketching for making music and started playing guitar and the blues harp. I played in various metal bands and blues bands, and after 36 years I decided to stop making music permanently because I wanted to sketch again.
In the meantime, I have been living in Dordrecht for 27 years, a city of artists par excellence
I am self-taught and started learning the wet-on-wet technique via YouTube, but after a while I wanted to paint more details. I then searched for online lessons and eventually ended up with Michael James Smith from England. Here I could learn to paint realistically to photorealistically. After having had one lesson, I got to work, and that resulted in 2018 with my painting "Gans Island" a nomination for painting of the year, and in 2019 a nomination with my painting "A Bridge to Chatsworth House".
In 2017, I was invited by Marziart International Gallery in Hamburg for an exhibition and invited to participate in the ADAF at the World Fashion Centre in Amsterdam, where I now participate every year.
