About Pieter de Vries
The Texel Wadden photographer Pieter de Vries (1950) steps into a Cessna F172M once or twice a year. From Texel airport, he lets himself be flown over the mudflats. Zigzagging between the Dutch, German, and Danish Wadden Islands, he takes unique photos. Abstract images of coastal structures and patterns in the seabed and more documentary photos of villages, (almost disappeared) dikes, buoys, (ruins of) lighthouses, and other human influences in the otherwise often so unspoiled Wadden landscape. His best photos are pure art. They were among others admired during Sail Amsterdam at Galerie Pien Rademakers, at Art Nocturne Knokke (B), Miljonairs Fair Amsterdam, PAN Amsterdam.
