About Onke

Dutchie but worldly, now living in Italy. Looking for beauty everywhere and trying to create work that resonates that.

I love creating art together through teaching and am a big fan of nature, yoga, mindfulness and being and connecting with others of different cultures. Always curious, to me life is a work of art!

Art, for me, is a way of holding space for what cannot be fully explained. It’s a practice of grounding emotion in material form, and of making the invisible visible, if only for a moment.

My work explores the quiet poetry of human connection- moments of intimacy, memory, and unspoken understandin. Through texture, abstraction, and layered forms, I seek to capture what is often more felt than seen: the energy between bodies, the weight of presence, the journey of self in life.

I am very happy my work found new homes in The Netherlands, Australia, Spain and France. A lot of them are expressionist portraits.

Working on finding passion between reducing to the essentials and moving from realism to abstraction and finding beauty and connection in a different culture, connecting, beauty by studying it. In the end I can now say that I did this later on in life by moving a lot, traveling a lot, being and connecting everywhere. Finding beauty in other cultures, people, languages and putting it in a home, photos and now paintings.
