Bubbles Eyes
About the work
Bubbles Eyes
The message of this artwork is: “Whatever color you have, you are a human.”
In the work, we see two figures that resemble each other, surrounded by hundreds of eyes directed at them. These eyes symbolize the silent, ignored gazes of those made invisible by racism. The figures experience for the first time the astonishment of seeing a being with a different skin color than their own.
There is no superiority here; from whatever perspective you look, no figure has a higher rank than the other. To emphasize this balance, the artist has chosen to place the canvas vertically.
Black, white, brown… they are just colors. Yet millions of people today are still discriminated against based on their skin color. With this work, the artist reminds us that colors do not mean separation, but rather represent diversity.
