Nurettin Dağdelen – Biography
Nurettin Dağdelen was born on December 28, 1995, in Kızıltepe, Mardin. From a young age, his drawings attracted the attention of his teachers.
In 2015, he graduated from high school and studied at Akdeniz University in Antalya from 2016 to 2020, where he successfully completed his education. During his studies, he caught the attention of various art collectors.
In 2021 and 2022, many art lovers became acquainted with his works at the Karl & Ein Art Gallery in Istanbul. Most of his exhibited paintings were sold immediately. In 2024, he opened an exhibition in Rotterdam titled “The Art of Being: Queer Dreams in Color,” where his art once again reached a wide audience and garnered much admiration.
Dağdelen has a passion for portraits and anatomical paintings. His ability to masterfully distort the human body on canvas clearly distinguishes him from other artists.
Dağdelen tries to summarize his works in a few sentences and primarily wants art lovers to feel as if they are in another dimension when viewing his paintings. He finds it exciting when the hidden messages in his works are deciphered. Symbolism plays an important role in his art. With his steadfast stance against racism and discrimination, he sets an example for many.
One of the most striking features of Dağdelen is the way he uses colors. In his paintings, he creates a visually stunning and limitless world of colors, as if he is painting a universe of flesh and blood. The use of contrasting colors and finding harmony in these contrasts are essential to understanding his style. What makes his work unique is how he gives specific objects a moral charge: good and evil are rewarded or punished on the canvas, adding a deeper meaning to his art.
