"Black Gold" a Star-Ring
About the work
A geometric Star-Ring form composed of 16 alternating black and gold elements.
This is a smaller version of the original large “Star-Ring” that was realised specifically for an international sculptural exhibition held at Savona. The first form was 3 meters in diameter and realised in brushed stainless-steel. At the closure of the exhibition it was bought by the neighbouring town of Vado Ligure to use as a work of public art sited on the sea-front.
This “Star-Ring” however is created out of alternating piramidically spiked, glazed or brass-sheet coated, ceramic “bricks”. This sculpture has two alternative display systems, it may be mounted on a black marble base (for desk or furniture level presentation), or on a clear acrylic tube 1 meter high, to visively float the form in the air.
