Always Lichen

Nature is a subject which always draws me in. Here is an oil & cold wax painting of lichen on logs in the forest. This is a medium which I learned in more recent years, much after conquering watercolor. But there is still  a way to layer and glaze which appeals to me. I like glazing one color over others and this gives a hazy, subtle, ambiguous appearance. The woods changes constantly and I believe this medium reflects those unpredictable changes. I also have come to sometimes add my version of calligraphy as a written communication. This medium is done on a cradled board, and there is no frame necessary.
