About Margreet Blaas
Margreet Blaas has developed as a self-taught artist with a solid craft background through various training courses - and numerous museum visits. She has consciously chosen this path because she wants her paintings to emerge as pure as possible.
She believes that painting is not something you can learn from books or a teacher. According to her, it is an inner calling. A calling that connects you with the moment and the art of creation.
Margreet is drawn to the undiscovered, to a mystery, a memory, or a story. She works from the unconscious-conscious memory and her imagination. The paintings that emerge in this way then begin a process where they slowly detach from Margreet. They begin to lead their own lives and then speak to her.
Through her intuition and imagination, Margreet follows her inner voices. Figures flow together with their surroundings while painting, seem to support each other and at the same time dissolve. Thus, step by step, lively and inspired paintings are created.
The subjects often show a magical realistic dream world. In this not always recognizable reality, the subject is symbolic and placed in a world of keys and colors. It is a subjective and emotional approach to reality where experience becomes more important than tangible reality.
Most of Margreet's work is currently located in the Nimis Gallery in Bussum, Netherlands.
