About Loïc Tarin Doud
Loic Tarin -Doud.- seeks to capture and convey the stature of the modern Man amidst the innate natural world, the innate need for human expression, and our penchant for creating and passing on myths and legends, this desire to leave a trace, a word, an echo of our experiences.
He views his faces through a kaleidoscope of perspective. His almost cubist portraits are intertwined with modern cold iconography and ancestral animal imagery.
He externalizes the ephemerality of the subjective perception of the present, and our humble place in the passage of time.
His visual language incorporates from ingenuous rupestrian figuration to the more satirical and cynical urban expressions of graffiti/street-art. This paradoxical cohabitation of ancient memories and contemporary perspectives constitutes a sort of anachronistic future relic which manifests the ongoing evolution of the creative act.
Born in 1974 in Dinan, Doud lives and works in Brittany.
