About Louis Sauter

Louis Sauter (1952) is a biologist and enthusiastic part-time photographer. He lives in Tholen (Zeeland). 25 years ago, he started photography as an art form. He taught himself the noble art of photography by attending photography workshops with some renowned photographers. He combines landscape photography with model photography. He likes to use mystique and mystery in his photography. This is reflected in his project "Il quatro elementi", in which he tried to incorporate the four elements as determining factors in his photos of nude models in landscapes in this case. He quickly realized that black-and-white photography is more powerful than color photography because in black-and-white photography, you can represent the essence of the content of the photo more clearly. He consciously uses artistic nude photography or rather figure photography to abstract the image. Everything revolves around content, form, composition, and context. His technical equipment consists of a Canon eos 5ds-r camera and usually 2 lenses: 28-70 mm, 70-200 mm, and 100 mm. He has exhibited several images from his project "I quatro elementi" in various places in the Netherlands and abroad. His knowledge of outdoor locations in the Netherlands is good thanks to his many years of walking along the roads of the Lord in the Netherlands. This led to the new project "Mother Nature's Daughters", in which he tried to place a vulnerable but strong woman in carefully selected outdoor locations. He uses a red filter effect with Adobe Photoshop to darken the sky and especially to bring the clouds forward more clearly. Last year, he received two awards for this project (A 'golden Award - Como It and Pollux award - Barcelona Sp). This reinforced his vision that he was on the right track with his photography. Favorite locations where Sauter photographs are beaches, dune, and drifting sand areas. They are characteristic of nature and the environment in the Netherlands. He also enjoys working in spring forests, especially those with lush ground vegetation that provides a beautiful backdrop for his photography. An environment he has certainly fallen in love with is the mudflats and salt marshes in the coastal areas of the Netherlands.
