Flower Goddess
About the work
“Flower Goddess” is created with recycled plastic foil I collected for several months. The artwork represents an abstract representation of a flower. I was deeply inspired by the biggest flower in the world, the Rafflesia arnoldii that is a rare flower found in the rainforests of Indonesia. The flower goes actually back to the age of the dinosaurs and is a very complex organism. To me she is the goddess of all flowers and extremely fascinating. She unfolds herself only for a very short time, only 6 to 7 days and her blooming is considered a rare sighting. My intention was to create a huge flower made of special materials that has a specific form and structure. I also wanted to give her a “face” to emphasize her character and mythical sprit.
