About the work
This work is based on a picture made in a small town called Onslow, during hurricane season in the Pilbara, North West Australia. 2013: A cyclone is about to hit town. Clouds turn pitch black and the sky becomes a palette of greens, greys and browns. Surrealistic but very real and at least awesome. This panoramic work is made in acrylic on linen and mounted on aluminum stretchers. I first made my underpainting in acrylic and Gesso. This to create a perfect, solid texture for the following layers. Then I started working on multiple layers of a combination of thick and thin traits of acrylic. Then finished with a slightly glossy varnish.
