About Jeroen Passchier

The Rotterdam wet plate collodion photographer Jeroen Passchier graduated in 2013 from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. There he discovered the alternative photography technique of wet plate collodion (discovered in 1851 by Frederick Scott Archer). Jeroen explores an image language for the current century with an imperfect technique from the 19th century. The ambrotypes are unique images made entirely by hand in wooden cameras that operate on the same principle as in the 19th century. He draws inspiration from past experiences. Looking at art and a broad knowledge of images help him develop in his own work.
