Jak Beemsterboer lives in Alkmaar and studied at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. After following the study directions of audiovisual, graphic design, and interior architecture, he graduated with an individual package. Since then, he has mainly focused on creating collages and paintings. Themes he uses are the well-known basic themes from the visual arts: portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. In his work, it is always about people, even if they do not always seem to be present in the collages. These people are not immediately definable; they are both attractive and seductive as well as repulsive and disturbing, often both male and female.
