A vast theme in the work of Jaap de Jonge is the naked man, stripped of any reference to his social or societal status. This work, ‘Struggle for Freedom,’ refers to the - often vulnerable - man, who tries to rid himself of the traditional image of male toughness and strength, resulting in a free form of self-awareness.
