Iris Creutzburg's first exhibition was opened in 1979. In 1995, she opened her own studio in the historic building on Kerkstraat in Nieuwegein. In 2004, her 25-year anniversary as a painter was celebrated with a large retrospective exhibition. Her (more than 300) paintings were until recently exclusively for rent, but are now also for sale for the enthusiast.
Style and Technique
Although the work of Iris Creutzburg can generally be defined as figurative realistic, she is more specifically known for her work featuring spiritual female images. Interestingly, many of these works also have a relationship with religion and animals.
In many of these works, the woman appears in higher spheres, while in another she can be depicted very earthly. In Creutzburg's collection, the woman is sometimes depicted with bulls, horses, and exotic animals. In all these paintings, the emotions of the woman are strongly perceivable through composition and bright color use.
