Edwin Engels grew up around art and artists. He is an artist himself, and his works are both similar to and distinct from those of his son, Jaco. Both artists seek depth in their creations, but they approach this in different ways. While Jaco's artworks radiate modernity, Edwin’s works are deeply spiritual. Edwin infuses a great deal of spirituality into his paintings, which are layered in both meaning and composition. His mesmerizing brushstrokes give the impression of a painting within a painting within another painting.
