Formidable Echo in the Garden '1'

 In human scale, approachable and well-set on location, ‘Ekko’ (‘Echo’ in English) possesses an enigmatic attractiveness that endures in one’s memory.   Its sculptor, Aksel Hansen (1853-1933), eschewed the classical approach based on religious and historical themes, managed to cultivate a breath of fresh air that was burgeoning in the late 19th century.  His works bear similarities to those of Georg Kolbe (1877-1947), much exemplified by ‘Dawn’ – the celebrated bronze sculpture at the Barcelona Pavilion.
