A night in Venice
About the work
In “A Night in Venice” there is a confusing mixture of an image well known by western viewers – the typical gondolas found in Venice – and estranged other elements. On the left side there is a character with a human body and animalistic head, which is clearly inspired by Egyptian art. Using deep blue colors, Dominic creates an atmosphere which reminds the viewer of a romantic, yet diffuse, Venice by night. Blurred surfaces and sharp lines alternate each other, which makes the painting all the more ambiguous. This artwork comes in limited editions of 150 x 110cm (8 pieces,3 sold), 200 x 150 cm (5 pieces,1 sold), 260 x 195 (1 piece). Techniques used: I draw by hand on paper, scan it in and then work it out with Photoshop. The artwork will be finished with the use of the most modern printing techniques available today (HD metal). About HD metal: Transfer printing onto metal is a new, cutting edge, way to reproduce an image. While being subjected to extreme heat and pressure, the dyes from the transfer paper turn into a gas, are pressed into the surface of the metal, and then solidify into the treated aluminum. The unique thing is that the gloss level of the metal is fully preserved, which results in an unbelievable picture quality. Ready to hang. Comes with signed certificate of authenticity. Dominic
