About Daniel Martin
Daniel Martin creates his work through the distortion and recreation of matter. He subjects his sculptural paintings to the control of chance and mistakes. His collage portraits breathe a universe of undiscovered human artifacts and transmutation structures. Daniel (1982) lives and works in Leiden, Netherlands. In his current work, he seeks the transmutation properties of matter. The portraits and sculptures have no fixed form and possess different realities of how they can be perceived. To achieve new forms, Daniel cuts up paintings, finds things on the street, and uses creations of others. The loose elements of these efforts are used as incoherent brushstrokes that together form a new unity, creating an object that holds no truth in form. His work can be divided into three main categories: portraits, landscapes, and abstractions. His densely layered compositions are easily recognizable and filled with color, shape, and techniques. They appear dynamic and spontaneous, yet are simultaneously balanced and well thought out.
