About the work
This work (oil on canvas of 1m x 1m) came about through a combination of several factors:
- I was not satisfied with the original result
- The feedback from my teacher Stief who suggested I make more of the brush strokes visible
- The sketchy approach I applied when painting the model the week before
AND! I had an 'off-day'!!!!
With an attitude of 'I don't care what it becomes' I worked out my frustration on the canvas. I got to work with brushes, palette knives, charcoal, and oil pastels... and I must say that I am satisfied with the result. This is definitely an approach I want to try further. Easier said than done, but... will definitely continue!
