About Antje Stel

Antje Stel is a versatile painter who represents reality recognizably on her panels. She masters the genres of portraits of people and animals, landscapes, and still lifes. Since her youth, she has developed her drawing talent by taking drawing lessons. She then specialized in painting. The years of academic lessons she has taken with the master painter Cornelis Le Mair have shaped her as a craft painter. The techniques learned there form the starting point for the construction of her portraits and still lifes. The lessons taken with the Russian impressionist landscape painter Alexander Savin form the basis for her landscapes. Through this training, Antje masters various styles, to which she gives her own interpretation. Both elaborately worked portraits that show a striking resemblance to the portrayed and the abstracted landscapes painted with a rough, broad, loose brushstroke are part of her oeuvre. What stands out in her paintings is the attractive composition, harmony of colors, and appropriate restraint. Her goal is to express 'The Beautiful' through the unity of color, light, and shadow. The subjects are everyday and recognizable to everyone. The end result is a powerful oil painting that suggests the illusion of three-dimensionality. Her work is sold both domestically and internationally.
