About the work

Annette van Soest (1976) is a is self-taught photographer. With her camera she captures moments of silence in the crowded and busy city life. The main topic in her work is the relation between people and their surroundings. With her photography she triggers the spectator to create their own narrative. In addition to the more traditional street photography, which is a registration of everyday life in a straightforward, documentary fashion, she also likes to explore the boundaries between street photography and abstract and graphic arts. All of her images are unposed. In 2018, GUP Magazine selected her work as part of the exhibition “New Dutch Photography Talent 2019”. Annette’s photography has also been on show in London, where she was chosen as one of the finalists of the SPi Street Awards 2018, in Delft and The Hague.
