About Anja Temmink-Stolk

I was born in Rotterdam, grew up in Rijssen, and have lived since 1989 with my husband and later three children in Hengelo (ov).

Clay is still my basic material, I mainly make figurative sculptures that arise from modeling with a nude model, but more often a specific pose based on photos where I pose myself.

During my training (VABK 2010 -2013), I also delved into various glass techniques, such as fusing, casting, and pâte de verre. The combination with clay makes these materials strengthen each other.

Because I wanted to work larger, I learned techniques in 2017 during a training in Belgium (under the guidance of Katrin Dekoninck) that give me the freedom to sculpt monumentally despite the limitations of the oven.

Beauty is my inspiration, the beauty of transience, of pure nudity, and of the cycle in nature.
