Yolande de Vlugt: Colors in the Gray
After studying at HKU and working as a graphic designer, Yolande de Vlugt chose to pursue her own artistic path, and her studio has become a place where she transforms the gray of daily life into color. Her abstract-realist paintings feature loose brushwork and warm ochre tones, often centering on animals—especially birds—alongside still lifes and the quiet moments of farm life. There's a gentle balance in her work between human presence and the natural world, painted with clean lines and an expressive touch. With several nominations and exhibitions under her belt, de Vlugt continues to explore themes close to her heart, creating paintings that feel both grounded and free.
