Arjeta Mala

Arjeta Mala studied graphic design at the Art Academy in Prishtina, Kosovo, and has spent decades developing her practice in the Netherlands. Her work unfolds across two distinct approaches: carefully rendered realistic portraits, including a portrait of Rembrandt that was selected from thousands of entries and exhibited at the Rijksmuseum in 2017, and modern compositions made with ink on paper that explore more abstract territory. Her ink work has been shown across Europe—in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Belgium, and Kosovo—and in 2023 won second prize at the International Drawing Biennale in Ferizaj, Kosovo. Through both styles, Mala creates a visual conversation between representation and expression.
