Dyon Scheijen | ART OF HEARING

Dyon Scheijen is a visual artist and clinical physicist-audiologist. Art, science, and human perception come together naturally in his work.

His abstract works emerge from a fascination with colour, material, layering, silence, and the ways we experience our surroundings. Fracture lines, structures, and visible traces are not hidden but become part of the image itself. This creates an ongoing search for balance between intensity and stillness, vulnerability and resilience.

Scheijen works on acoustically absorbent canvas, so his artworks have both a visual presence and can contribute to the acoustic experience of a space. The technique remains secondary to the art, with each work standing as an autonomous artwork. His work has been presented in museums, galleries, and international contexts. In 2013 he was the first international Artist in Residence at the San Diego Art Institute – Museum of the Living Artist. His work has also been shown at Museum Valkenburg, Stadsmuseum Harderwijk, EuropArtFair, and various international hospitality projects. His art was used as cover art for ENT & Audiology News, distributed internationally to 114 countries.
