Minella Tanellari was born in Përmet in 1943. He graduated from the Iordan Misja artistic high school in 1964 and worked as a painter at the Palace of Culture in Përmet. In 1987 he was accepted as a member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Albania and received four national awards in the arts.
He opened two solo exhibitions in Tirana between 1984 and 1988. He was twice decorated by the People's Assembly with the order "Naim Frashëri" for his work in figurative arts. After the 1990s he emigrated to Greece, where he completed a three-year course at the private school MEXIKOV in Athens. During his time in Greece he opened four solo exhibitions in Athens and Piraeus.
In 2008 he represented Albania at the UNESCO International Multicultural Festival in Athens and received first prize. In 2011 he held a personal exhibition at the National Museum of Tirana and participated in several editions of the PranverArt exhibition, organized by GKA Tirana.
