Het Ir. D.F. Woudagemaal is het grootste, nog functionerende stoomgemaal ter wereld. Koningin Wilhelmina opende het oude stoomgemaal in het jaar 1920. Het stoomgemaal diende destijds om het overtollig water tegen te gaan. Zo pompte het Woudagemaal het water vanuit Friesland in de Zuiderzee en later het IJsselmeer.

The Ir. D.F. Woudagemaal is the largest, still functioning steam pumping station in the world. Queen Wilhelmina opened the old steam pumping station in the year 1920.
