She Came In Through the Bathroom Window

Over het werk
Inspired by the Beatles Song an image of a girl's leg coming through. The lines in the song mention a ‘protected by a silver spoon’. I symbolised this with the window catch. My work is influenced by Rene Magritte as well as Pop Artists such as Andy Warhol.
The phrase "protected by a silver spoon" suggests that the fan, who is the subject of the song, is likely wealthy or comes from a privileged background. The lyrics imply that she is not concerned about the consequences of breaking into McCartney's house because she believes her financial status and connections will protect her from any trouble.
She came in through the bathroom window,
Protected by a silver spoon.
But now she sucks her thumb and wonders
By the banks of her own lagoon.
McCartney said the song was inspired by one of the fans who hung around outside McCartney's St John's Wood home, and who had broken in, later revealed to be Diane Ashley. She said:
We were bored, he was out and so we decided to pay him a visit. We found a ladder in his garden and stuck it up at the bathroom window which he'd left slightly open. I was the one who climbed up and got in.
She then opened the front door to let the others inside. In addition to clothes, the fans also stole a number of photographs.
