Mijn naam is Martin Veldhuis. Ik werk onder mijn kunstenaarspseudoniem MARVELLI. Mijn werk valt onder de categorie van wat ik magisch realisme noem: een figuratieve voorstelling van een gebeurtenis die in de echte wereld niet of nauwelijks mogelijk is. En veelal met een ondertoon van humor onder het motto “art with a smile”. Kunst hoeft niet altijd zo serieus te zijn. Veel van mijn werken laten een snapshot zien van zo’n gebeurtenis waarvan het meestal onduidelijk is hoe die ontstaan is en hoe die afloopt. Dat laat ik over aan de fantasie van de kijker.

Ik schilder uitsluitend met olieverf op paneel. Vaak is er interactie tussen de voorstelling en het paneel waarop het geschilderd is. De afbeelding kan zich daarbij uitstrekken tot buiten de in trompe l’ oeil geschilderde lijst. Ik zaag het paneel dan naar de vorm uit.

De meeste van mijn werken zijn te bestellen als prachtige fine art reproducties in beperkte oplage, gesigneerd en voorzien van een certificaat van echtheid, in de volgende uitvoeringen:

• Certified Art Giclée op 310 grams fine art paper
• HD Finish op aluminium. Bij werken in vrije vorm wordt de voorstelling exact naar de vorm uitgefreesd. Voorzien van een 15 mm dik frame aan de achterzijde zodat het lijkt of het werk op de wand zweeft. Geen lijst nodig en klaar om op te hangen.

My name is Martin Veldhuis. I work under my artist’s pseudonym MARVELLI. My work falls under the category of what I call magical realism: a figurative representation of an event that is hardly possible or not possible at all in the real world. And often with an undertone of humor under the motto “art with a smile”. Art doesn’t always have to be so serious. Many of my paintings show a snapshot of an event of which it is uncertain how it came about and how it ends. I leave that to the imagination of the observer.

I exclusively paint with oil on panel. Often the image interacts with the panel on which it is painted. The image may even extend beyond the frame, painted in trompe l’oeil. I then achieve this by cutting the panel to the required shape.

Most of my works are available as beautiful fine art reproductions in limited edition, signed and complete with certificate of authenticity, supplied as:

• HD Finish on aluminium.  Where applicable the panel Is lasered out exactly to the contours of the picture. Provided with a 15 mm frame at the backside, giving an impression as if the work floats on the wall. No frame required, ready to hang.
