Ancestral

Nature is a subject which always draws me in. Here is an oil & cold wax painting of bison in  the West. This is a medium which I learned in more recent years, much after conquering watercolor. But there is still  a way to layer and glaze which appeals to me. I like glazing one color over others and this gives a hazy, subtle, ambiguous appearance. Here the haze and memory of the old West of U.S. is seen, with one bison in foreground, and 3 in the distance, a beam of light highlighting them in the prairie. I also have come to sometimes add my version of calligraphy as a written communication, which you see to the left. These lines can mean anything that comes to the viewer's mind as she/he looks across to the mountains. This medium is done on a cradled board, and there is no frame necessary.
