The Sky is Broken

“The Sky is Broken” is a mixed media painting from my “Kintsugi” series, inspired by the Japanese tradition of mending broken pottery with gold. The symbolism and philosophy behind this ancient tradition teach us that the broken and the mended are more beautiful than the new. Western culture is obsessed with the cult of young and perfect. We tend to discard everything that is worn out and broken, not just everyday objects we use, but also people in our life, relationships, and even ourselves.

Materials: stretched cotton canvas, Cobra (environmentally friendly) oil paint, golden paint.
