Fire Koi (Benigoi)

Koi fish is one of my favorite subjects to paint, not just because of their elegant, striking beauty but also because they carry a very strong symbolic meaning.  

Benigoi (red koi fish) often symbolizes motherhood, female, and extreme strength, because of its ability to swim upstream.
