Whim Creek Daybreak

This landscape painting is based on a photo taken from my dashcam, while driving from Karratha to Port Hedland - Northwest Australia (2012). It shows this specific West Australian sunrise, slowly waking up the Outback. Here and there a telegraph pole is already visible. Another sunny, very warm day with a clear blue sky is on its way. I first made my underpainting in acrylic and Gesso. This to create a perfect, solid texture for the following layers. Then I started working on multiple layers of a combination of thick and thin traits of acrylic. Then finished with a slightly glossy varnish.
