The title refers to the song “New York State of Mind”, performed by Billy Joel in 1976.
The work is part of an expanding series “Music 1960s-1990s”, where all titles refer to songtitles from this period.

Jan was born in 1960 and therefor raised with the music in this period more or less as a guideline. While working in his studio a corresponding playlist on Spotify or Deezer accompanies the creative process.
