Over het werk

While less conspicuous than other pieces, this artwork is a part of the Railway Zone series, which draws inspiration from the industrial area in Tilburg, the Netherlands.

The Spoorzone (Railway zone), spanning 40 hectares, holds a fascinating history as a hub for the repair and maintenance of trains and locomotives dating back to 18th century.  This part of what is now the Railway Zone was nearly closed off and shielded from outsiders, earning the nickname Forbidden City in Tilburg.

In a visionary move, the city council acquired the area in 2010, ushering in a transformative era. The once industrially focused space has now evolved into a vibrant, modern district seamlessly integrating residential, commercial, and educational elements.

Jacqueline, captivated by the Spoorzone even before its revitalization, dedicated years to exploring its nuances. Her exploration served as the muse for an entire series of artwork, each piece reflecting the complex's historical significance and its incredible potential to meet the evolving needs of today's society. Jacqueline's artistic expression beautifully captures the intersection of the Spoorzone's rich past and its promising future as a dynamic and adaptive contributor to contemporary urban life.
