Hennie van de Lande
Over Hennie van de Lande
Painting holds deep meaning for me in many ways: it brings light to my darkest moments, gives me strength when I am weak, provides solutions in challenging times, and offers comfort when I am sad. Painting is vital to me. I am grateful and blessed to have this gift, and I hope that others can feel a sense of blessing and gratitude when they experience my art.
Since childhood, Hennie has had an irrepressible urge to create. After a journey of self-discovery, prompted by a physical illness, she began painting as a form of therapy. Those who closely examine the materials, colors, and (hidden) symbols in her work may discover glimpses of her source of strength and inspiration.
The essence of Hennie's beautiful work is not just in seeing it, but in feeling it. Her art can be seen as abstract figurative, depending on the viewer's perception and experience. The quote on her business card, "IT'S NOT WHAT YOU LOOK AT THAT MATTERS, IT'S WHAT YOU SEE," encapsulates her perspective on art. Hennie values the viewer's interpretation, allowing them to derive their own meanings from her pieces.
A self-taught artist through and through, Hennie's individuality has always shone through, even as her work has evolved through lessons, workshops, and courses with renowned artists. She loves to recreate, finding inspiration in things that are old, broken, or worn. Her goal is to transform vulnerability into strength by juxtaposing contrasts in her unique style.
You can see her work on Online Gallery or by appointment in her studio.
