Body ambiguity
Over het werk
“The figure stands in sharp silhouette, its form a mystery, shrouded in shadow. Only the faintest outline is visible, hinting at the contours of a human figure, but distorted and ambiguous. The viewer is left wondering - who does this elusive form belong to and what secrets might it be hiding?
“Scattered and unnatural, the body appears fragmented, limbs contorted into an unsettling pose. The elongated fingers and disproportionately large head give the figure an unsettling, almost alien appearance. Sharp, angular lines create a sense of tension and unease because if this bodily form exists in a realm beyond our understanding.”
“Flooded with an eerie, otherworldly glow, the figure seems weightless, not connected with the physical world. The skin has an ethereal, translucent quality, as if the body itself is made of mist or steam. There is an undeniable appeal to this. a mysterious presence that draws the viewer in with a sense of mystery and the supernatural.”
“Hidden behind a veil of thick, textured brushstrokes, the body becomes an abstract study of form and gesture. Only fragments are exposed - the arm, the shoulder, the bend of the hip. This partial view leaves the viewer to fill in the blanks. to represent the invisible parts that make up the whole. The resulting feeling of incompleteness is both painful and unsettling.”
