Biography

An Artistic Journey

I am a French artist and photojournalist affiliated with the Sopa Image agency in Hong Kong. My artistic journey is as rich as it is unconventional, encompassing roles as a journalist for various European magazines, an actor, a theater director, and an author of numerous literary works published in France and Canada. Currently, I find fulfillment in photography, showcasing my work globally. Born in Paris in 1969, I am the nephew of painter Pierre-Jacques Catoni. After living in several countries, I now reside in Paris.

A Perspective on Humanity and the World

My photography is driven by a curiosity about humanity and the world. From Europe to Asia, and Africa, I explore social and cultural groups, the organization of cities and societies, our relationship with traditions, and our impact on nature. My subjects range widely, including endangered animals in Africa (particularly lions and gorillas), IRA soldiers in Belfast, young Cambodian girls rescued from prostitution, Drag Queens in Europe, impoverished Christian families in Lebanon, war zones in Nagorno-Karabakh, minimalist Scandinavian landscapes, architectural heritage, the Jordanian desert, and black-and-white street art.

I've also captured notable personalities from the realms of rock and cinema, such as Gerard Depardieu, David Bowie, Nina Hagen, Iggy Pop, Deep Purple, Omar Sharif, Jacques Dutronc, Patti Smith, Salif Keita, Orelsan, Benjamin Biolay, and Jean-Paul Rouve. Each photograph aims to present a unique vision of the modern world, centered on perspective, message, and emotion.

International Reach

My photographic works have been exhibited in various prestigious venues, including the European Parliament, museums, and galleries across Europe (Paris, Berlin, Munich, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Canterbury, Zurich, Brussels, Athens, Porto, and more), the United States (Boston, San Diego), South Korea, Panama, India, Nigeria, and beyond. I have received awards in New York, Moscow, Barcelona, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, and more. Additionally, I lecture on photojournalism and the IRA.
