Giancarlo Rossi was born in Castiglion Fiorentino, Tuscany, grew up and currently lives in Cortona. After his degree in agronomy he took over the workshop of fine woodworking opened by his grandfather in 1929 in Via Guelfa 28. While still creating delicate pieces of woodturning and carving, he tried his hand at painting with watercolor and acrylic, integrating human figure drawing with elements of the Renaissance environment.

His pieces join private collections all around the world.
